The Blue Bucket Award
Encourages girls to become aware of their feelings and the feelings of those around them. It also encourages them to develop good relationship skills and communicate. To earn, the girls:
- Tell one another about their feelings and the feelings of those around them.
- Take part in role-playing activities that helps to encourage them to resolve conflicts, negotiate and be considerate of others.
The Firefly Award
- Girls recognize and develop their skills and then choose a skill they will educate and inspire others about
- Think about and talk about their own skills and those of their sister Daisies. We talked about what we were "good at" and what we wanted to learn to do.
- Choose a skill that they can teach other, either at home or in their community. We all voted to learn about gardening and then making your own meal from foods in your garden.
The Clover Award
Girls team up to protect a natural treasure in their region. We chose the botanic gardens in our city.
To earn, girls:
- Learn about and commit to protecting a natural treasure in their region. We learned about the botanic gardens and attended 3 events they hosted. We also did a take action project creating bird feeders and collecting trash that we found in the gardens.
- Educate and inspire other in their community to join with them to protect the local treasure. We held these meetings as a "friends and family" meeting so everyone could join.
Petal Connections
Girls review the Girl Scout Law throughout this Journey so that's why we did it at the end of the year. Even if a majority of your troop has earned the Petals, you could help new girls earn them while completing this Journey and honestly there is nothing wrong with reviewing the concepts. You can connect every petal to this journey really easily because it symbolizes the Promise/Oath.
